Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin has been an actor in Canada as well as New Zealand for over a decade. She was born in Winnipeg and was raised in Wellington Paquin began her acting debut as Flora McGrath in the romantic drama film The Piano for which she was awarded an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at age 11 and was the 2nd youngest recipient to win an award within Oscar history. Paquin moved to New Zealand from Canada as a little girl and grew there. After an audition, Flora McGrath was cast as the daughter a Scottish musician. Flora McGrath is the daughter of a muted Scottish musician who came to New Zealand to marry in the 19th century. As a teenager, she moved to the United States. Paquin was in a brief role in the film's title role when she was a child in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre (1996) and a lead part in the movie Fly Away Home (1996). Paquin appeared as Frankie Addams, a character in Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad in 1997 in which she played the Spanish queen in a smaller role. She played teens on the screen in Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (1998), A Walk on the Moon (1998) as well as Almost Famous (2000). Also, she played the character of Polexia Aphrodisa.
